5 tips for a couple planning their wedding day timeline.
Planning a wedding day timeline can be an overwhelming task for couples.
To help make it easier, here are five tips for couples to keep in mind when creating their wedding day
timeline:
1. Plan Ahead – It’s important to make sure that you have enough time to plan your wedding day timeline. Make sure to give yourself at least 6-12 months to plan everything from the venue to the vendors you’ll need. Giving yourself ample time to plan is essential when trying to find and book your dream venue and vendors, as we get booked about a year in advance- especially for Spring and Fall weddings.
2. Get Organized – Make sure to write down all of the details for the day. You can use a spreadsheet or task list to keep everything in one place. When planning our own wedding, we kept a binder full of all of our ideas, plans, and to-do lists. If I were to plan a wedding today, I would definitely use something like Google Docs or Google Sheets to that I would have the information with me at all times and not have to remember my binder! This will help you to stay organized and make sure that you’re on track with your timeline.
3. Prioritize – When it comes to planning the timeline for your wedding day, it’s important to prioritize the activities you’ll be doing. Figure out which tasks are most important and ensure that they get on the timeline first. For a typical wedding day, couples hire our services for 8 hours. To know how many and what hours you need us for, you'll need to consider your budget and what is your top priority. If you are ok with doing a fake send-off so that we can have more time for shots during daylight, then you can plan your timeline in such a way that uses that daylight to your fullest advantage.
4. Consider Your Guests – Don’t forget to consider the needs of your guests when creating your timeline. Make sure that you leave enough time for them to get to the ceremony, find their tables, and eat food before the dancing begins.
5. Take Breaks – It’s important to remember to schedule breaks throughout the day. You’ll need time to rest and recharge, so make sure to leave enough time on your timeline for this. Some of the most common times that we see couples schedule for downtime include before the ceremony and during dinner- some couples like to have dinner on their own to give themselves time together to relax and breathe. Your wedding day should be a fun and memorable day, not a stressful one.
Following these tips will help make your wedding day timeline go smoothly.
Have fun planning and enjoy your big day!
